Welcome to the Dorset Freewheelers Emergency Volunteer Service (EVS) website.
The Freewheelers EVS is an organisation set up to assist the patients of local health authorities.
We operate ‘out of hours’ during the weekday evenings (7pm to 7am), weekends and bank holidays, to provide fast, safe and efficient transport between hospitals throughout the region.
The service is provided free of charge, and uses specially adapted motorcycles. We can carry urgently needed blood samples, biopsies, MRI scans, prescription drugs, a variety of medical equipment for Intensive Care Units and even patients notes.
The Bikes
The Dorset Freewheelers service currently uses two main types of motorcycle, the Honda Deauville and Honda Pan European. Both are ideally suited to this kind of work being easily adapted for our requirements and capable of carrying the necessary equipment.
